Problem
Ethiopian women with leadership potential are stifled by gender biases, role overload, self-doubt, and societal expectations, which stunt their career advancement and, by extension, the nation's progress. The AFLEX program aims to transform this scenario by selectively enrolling women in a tailored training initiative focused on networking, skill development, and practical experience. This targeted support is critical for breaking gender barriers and essential for Ethiopia's socio-economic development.
Solution
My team and I created an experiential, action-based women’s leadership course to directly confront gender inequality by providing hands-on leadership practice, empowering women with actionable skills, and nurturing a supportive network. This practical approach ensures the immediate application of learning, fosters confidence, and accelerates the transition of women into leadership roles, contributing to an equitable and progressive economic landscape.
Process
We followed a blend of instructional and visual design theories, accompanied by andragogy learning models. We followed the ADDIE Model of Instructional Design.
